رغم تعدد الاتجاهات في بحوث الاعلام واستخدام النظريات المختلفة المتعلقة
بعلوم الاتصال والاعلام الا أننا يمكن ان نلاحظ اختفاء الاتجاه النقدي من الدراسات
الاكاديمية. وحتى الدراسات التي يمكن ان تدرج تحت هذا الإطار، العديد منها لم تشر الى
النظرية بشكل صريح، فيما واجهت دراسات أخرى انتقادات بدعوى ان المنهج النقدي لا
يتناسب والبحوث الإعلامية بعد هيمنة أسلوب تحليل المضمون على معظم الدراسات
الأكاديمية باعتبارها الوسيلة الأفضل لدراسات الاعلام. ورغم وجود توجه في السنوات
الأخيرة لاستخدام المنهج النقدي في البحوث الأكاديمية، الا أن هذه المحاولات تبقى
محدودة وتعد على أصابع اليد. وتتناول الدراسة الاتجاهات النقدية واستخدامها في
الدراسات الإعلامية كونها تتناول الظاهرة الإعلامية من جانب واسع عبر محاولة التعرف
على بناء الخطاب الإعلامي وعلاقته بالمجتمع والخطاب السياسي المهيمن. فالمداخل
النقدية كما يشير فيركلوف تختلف عن المداخل غير النقدية في أنها لا تقتصر على وصف
الممارسات الخطابية بل تبين أيضا كيف يتشكل الخطاب بفعل علاقات السلطة
والايديولوجيات.

Abstract
Despite the multiplicity of trends in media research and the use of different
theories related to the sciences of communication and media, we can notice the
disappearance of the critical trend from academic studies. Even the studies that
can be included under this framework, many of them did not refer to the theory
explicitly, while other studies faced criticism on the claim that the critical approach
is not appropriate for media research after the content analysis method dominates
most academic studies as it is the best method for media studies. Although there
has been a trend in recent years to use the critical approach in academic research,
these attempts remain limited and count on the fingers of the hand. In this study,
we try to address critical trends and their use in media studies, as they deal with
the media phenomenon from a broad side by trying to identify the structure of the
media discourse and its relationship to society and the dominant political discourse.
Critical entries, as Fairclough points out, differ from non-critical approaches in that
they do not limit themselves to describing discursive practices, but also indicate
how discourse is shaped by power relations and ideologies.
