1. POLICY FOR WATER CONSERVATION

Water scarcity in Iraq is a serious problem for both urban and rural communities. However, due to the drought, high-rise infrastructure, population growth, a lack of planning, and other natural and human factors, metropolitan towns are now confronting greater difficulties with their water supply. The threat of climate change to water supplies and resources has led Al-Esraa University to establish a policy that both staff and students must abide by in order to fulfill the policy's single goal of water conservation. The University approaches water from three interconnected perspectives: effective conservation, responsible consumption, and restoring and preserving both surface and groundwater.

2. WATERING UTILITIES

On the campus, numerous motion-activated water appliances have been installed. All W/C units on the campus now have access to these appliances. Additionally, historic structures with conventional.

3. Drought-resistant plants

Al-Esraa University is continually growing. The majority of this expansion is located in green spaces, along with the increasing area. The aim has been to increase the green space on campus while decreasing the area of parking lots. However, as there are more green spaces, they need to be watered more frequently. The Engineering Unit has made an effort to use sprinkler irrigation systems to provide an adequate irrigation process with the least quantity of water, citing the water conservation strategy and its implementation. Another element that lowers the amount of water used for irrigation in these expanding green areas is the use of drought-tolerant plants. The date palm tree is a well-known plant that is renowned for its ability to withstand drought. In addition to creating a nice environment, the date palm tree is also productive and an evergreen plant.

4. CAMPAIGNS, EVENTS, AND WORKSHOPS FOR WATER CONSERVATION

Al-Esraa University has played a significant role in organizing efforts to promote water conservation both on and off campus. All buildings have signs erected to promote water saving near water fountains and restrooms. Additionally, various initiatives emphasizing the need to cut back on water use and clean up water sources were run by staff and students.
