ABSTRACT Background: Genioglossus advancement is a surgical procedure to advance the tongue in some patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.The important step in this procedure is that of accurately capturing the bone segment attached to the genioglossus muscle to avoid complications such as mandibular fracture, devitalization of the inferior incisor roots, and incomplete incorporation of the genioglossus Materials and Method: Computed tomography scans were taken for 53 Iraqi adult patients (28 male and 25 female) range from (18-35) years with skeletal class I classification and intact anterior mandible dentition included in this study using sagittal and axial sections. The measurements were done for genial tubercle and anterior mandibular region. Results: The mean values of some measurements weresignificantly higher in males than in females. The effect of gender difference was evaluated as a strong effect. The mean value of the other measurements slightly higher among males compared to females, but the difference fail to reach the level of statistical significance. The effect of gender difference on this parameter was evaluated as a moderately strong effect.The results showed that there was no effect of age on al selected measurements in male and female. All selected measurements showed no statisticaly significant linear correlation with the age. Conclusions: The variable position and dimensions of this bone segment among patients suggest the need for CT before attempting genioglossus advancement for exact localization, avoiding the expected surgical complication Keywords: Genioglossus advancement, genial tubercle, computed tomography. Abstract Background Appropriate root canal morphology knowledge is vital for successful endodontic treatment. One of the main reasons for root canal treatment failure is the lack of knowledge of canal morphology, causing missed uncleaned and unshaped canals and compromising the favorable outcome. Objectives To investigate root canal morphology of mandibular anterior teeth by CBCT imaging in a sample of the Iraqi population in Baghdad city. Materials and Methods A total of 441 healthy, untreated fully erupted mandibular anterior teeth from 75 CBCT scans were examined and investigated for root canal morphology categorized by Vertucci classification. The entire root length was examined in the axial section with a slice thickness of half a millimetre. Results All examined teeth had single roots. Obtained data expressed as number and percentage of canal configuration. The chi-square test showed a non-significant difference between males and females. Type I configuration was the most common 80%, while type III accounted only for 17%. Conclusion Single rooted with Type I canal configuration is the most prevalent in mandibular anterior teeth in the Iraqi subpopulation. However, the incidence of more than one root canal with different canal configurations is also detected.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a disorder that leads to deterioration of memory and loss of cognitive functions. It severely impacts a person’s ability to perform day to day tasks.Traditionally diagnosis is done through subjective or invasive biomarkers, which is neither comfortable nor easily accessible. This paper ponders upon the possibility of using 3D Convolutional Networks (3D-CNNs) and Conventional Autoencoders (CAEs) for early AD detections from MRI scans. The framework showcases improved classification performance by focusing on subtle anatomical changes such as hippocampal atrophy. The advanced pre-processing techniques, feature extraction, and dimensionality reduction are integrated to overcome shortcomings like imbalanced datasets and computational demands. The findings help to navigate for more scalable, efficient and accurate diagnostic solutions to aid clinical work and public health efforts.
